Building Caribbean Basketball Together

The CBCT Independence Day Edition 2026 is designed to become one of the premier international club basketball tournaments in the region. The men’s tournament will feature eight clubs, with leading teams from Suriname and Guyana already confirmed. Additional invitations have been extended to clubs from other Caribbean nations and South American countries, creating an exciting and diverse level of competition.

Alongside the men’s competition, CBCT will organize a women’s tournament featuring three teams. Suriname has already confirmed its participation, while discussions are ongoing with clubs and federations from neighboring countries to complete the tournament lineup.

The event is more than a basketball tournament. CBCT aims to strengthen cooperation between clubs and basketball federations, promote youth development, encourage cultural exchange, and contribute to sports tourism within the Caribbean region. Through high-quality competition and professional organization, CBCT seeks to create lasting opportunities for players, coaches, officials, sponsors, and basketball supporters.

Participating teams will compete under international basketball regulations in a professionally organized event featuring qualified referees, live media coverage, photography, social media updates, and an official awards ceremony. The tournament provides clubs with valuable international experience while strengthening friendships and partnerships across the region.

The CBCT organizing committee welcomes additional clubs, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and supporters who wish to contribute to the continued growth of Caribbean basketball.

A Growing Tournament with a Strong Foundation

Since its launch, the Caribbean Basketball Club Tournament has continued to grow in quality and regional recognition. The first CBCT edition, hosted in Suriname, was won by SCVU, while Ravens Basketball Club of Guyana finished as runner-up. Joshua Soesman was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his outstanding performances throughout the competition.

The second edition, the Guyana Return Edition 2026, marked another successful milestone for the tournament. SCVU successfully defended its championship title, SV De Arend finished as runner-up, and Ravens Basketball Club secured third place. Xavier Elburg was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after an exceptional tournament.

Building on these successful editions, the CBCT Independence Day Edition 2026 in Suriname aims to take another important step forward. With room for additional clubs from across the Caribbean and South America, together with the introduction of a women’s competition, CBCT continues to expand its vision of becoming the leading international club basketball tournament in the Caribbean.

Looking Ahead

The Caribbean Basketball Club Tournament continues to grow with every edition, bringing together clubs, players, coaches, officials, and basketball supporters from across the region. What began as an initiative to promote international club competition has developed into a platform that strengthens regional cooperation, encourages sporting excellence, and creates lasting friendships through basketball.

As preparations continue for the CBCT Independence Day Edition 2026, the organizing committee welcomes additional clubs from the Caribbean and South America to become part of this exciting event. Sponsors, partners, volunteers, and basketball organizations are also invited to support the continued growth of the tournament and help create new opportunities for the sport throughout the region.
